What is Flicker?
Flicker is due to different lighting conditions between two successive frames. It can be due, for example, to artificial lighting typical in slow motion or ambient light changes due to large time-spaced captures typical in time lapse.
Left image is regular movie capture speed matching the artificial lights frequency (50 or 60 Hz depending on the country). Right image increases acquisition frame rate to 200 Hz sampling different lighting levels making appear “flicker”
What is Noise?
Noise is all these artifacts that do not originate from the original scene and are common in low light shooting. It appears under the form of random variations of brightness or color in images and are due to camera optics and electronic components and the different internal processing producing the final RGB image.
